The upcoming game from Arc System Works, 4v4 tag fighter Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls, will be playable this summer during EVO 2025 in Las Vegas. This will be the first time that the public will be able to get a hands-on look at the next fighting title from the studio behind Dragon Ball FighterZ and Guilty Gear since the game was announced during Sony’s State of Play event in June.

The build that will be showcased at EVO will allow players to create a team of four from six characters that will be featured in the game: Captain America, Iron Man, Storm, Star Lord, Ms. Marvel, and Doctor Doom. Players will get a chance to see how this twist on the tag battle system, with teams consisting of 4 characters rather than the typical 3, see how Arc’s new fighting game stacks up to their other popular franchise, and even walk away with a collectable pin for participating.

EVO, which stands for Evolution Championship Series, will take place between August 1st and 3rd, remains not only one of the most popular fighting game tournaments in the world, it is also one of the most popular E-Sports events, consistently seeing high numbers of viewers each year. Among the games featured are popular titles like Tekken 8, Street Fighter 6, and Mortal Kombat 1, with Arc System Works having a number of their games present on the main stage, such as Guilty Gear -Strive- and Granblue Fantasy Versus, as well as  Under Night In-Birth II [Sys:Celes] which they served as the publishers for.

For players interested in the hero fighter who are unable to attend the event, a developer combat panel will be held featuring both members of Arc System Works and the Marvel Games Development teams. The panel will be held on Friday, August 1, at 8 PM PT on the showcase stage. In a PlayStation Blog post, the director of Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls, Kazuto “Pachi” Sekine, spoke briefly to fans. He stated:

This is Sekine, Director of Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls. I’d like to express our thanks on behalf of the entire development team for the incredible response to the State of Play trailer. The game is still under development, but we’re really looking forward to sharing more in our Evo panel, and especially for fans to try it out for themselves with the very first trial version at the event.

My hope is to ‘Assemble’ with all of the players and create an amazing game together. We’re trying out many new things to offer a fresh experience. I can’t wait to hear your feedback and thoughts.

Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls is currently slated to release in 2026 for PlayStation 5 and PC. While not directly developed by Arc, their popular fighting game series BlazBlue was recently revived as a spin-off rogue-like entitled BlazBlue: Entropy Effect.
