For anybody who loves their Dualsense controller but hates how fast the batter drains during gaming sessions, there might be good news for you on the horizon. a brand new version of the controller, dubbed the V2, has been listed on a retailer’s website boasting a vastly improved battery life.
This new version is being listed online by Best Buy Canada for $89.99, and while the appearance remains unchanged there are a few key differences. The key one, as noted above, is this improved version will feature “exceptional 12-hour battery life, on a full charge,” according to the listing. It will also include a charging stand, an attachment usually sold separately.
This battery life should double the expected play session before you need to charge it again, with the current controllers maintaining 5-6 hours of charge. If all of this is true, the 20-dollar price increase (if this listing is in US dollar) seems like an accurate price though it remains to be seen if this improved controller will act to phase out the previous ones similar to the Slim PS5‘s or not.
This is an odd leak as well given that CES 2024 is taking place this week. Like every year Sony took to the stage to talk about their upcoming plans, give updates on several planned movies, and even unveil a car that can be driven using a Dualsense controller. If there was a time to unveil an updated controller it would have been there and yet they said nothing about one.
However, one of the most significant leaks in recent memory was due to Walmart Canada posting a listing for several unannounced games with many ultimately being confirmed later so this is something to watch closely for the time being.
