Rematch Developer Confirms No Crossplay at Launch

Rematch developer Sloclap has confirmed that the upcoming competitive game will feature no crossplay at launch. The game bears some similarities with Sloclap’s previous games, such as Sifu, in that the stylized graphics for the title are combined with flashy movies to help score goals. In a tweet released by the studio, it was stated that crossplay will not be available for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, or Steam at launch, which is set for June 19th. The game is currently available for players that had paid a higher amount to get the Elite or Elite Pro editions of the game.

Sloclap has made clear, though, that crossplay is “one of our top priorities for upcoming updates,” stating that “We’ll share an ETA as soon as possible, stay tuned!” Unfortunately, in 2025, with the state of live-service games in the industry, this news has come as a bit of a shock to fans, with many disappointed to hear this. To put this into perspective, the game recently released a beta that saw 1.9 million players across all platforms taking part. These are big numbers for a game like this, suggesting there was a lot of anticipation in the buildup to release.

Rematch is also set to be available on PC Game Pass, which, while being on PC, means players who opt to play it that way will be unable to play against people who purchased the title on Steam. This is still a great way to try the game if this news gives you some pause to purchase, but fans taking to places like Reddit suggest the excitement that was building has now tempered. In addition, many players have now suggested that they have refunded their pre-orders. With this being a priority for the studio, hopefully, we will see them add the function soon.
