The director of Resident Evil Requiem, Koshi Nakanishi, has confirmed plans for the game’s post-launch content. This announcement was via a post made by the director on X in which he once again thanked players for the strong sales of the title, with the game hitting 5 million sales last week, along with a big demand for physical copies of the game. In this video, it was confirmed that there are multiple plans for the latest Resident Evil game, including a story expansion, a mini-game planned for May, and a photo mode.
In this video, Nakanishi stated:
We’re planning to add more add-on content. First, the much-awaited photo mode. On top of that, there’s another surprise coming around May. We’re planning to add a mini-game. We hope to continue providing support for Resident Evil Requiem to live up to its positive reception.
He then went on to say about the expansion:
In this story, we will delve deeper into the world of Requiem. We’re hard at work on it now. It will take some time, so we ask for your patience and hope you’ll look forward to it. Thank you again for all your support!
At one point during the video, amid several flashcards that Naskanishi had to represent the team’s ideas, there was a humorous inclusion of a Leon S. Kennedy dating spin-off. While this clearly appears to be a joke in context, Dead by Daylight got a dating sim for thirsty fans sexualizing horror monsters, so weirder things have happened.
There were no further details provided today regarding this story expansion, so it is unclear whether it will advance the story of Grace, Leon, both, or neither. Previous DLC entries for VII and VIIl featured additional characters rather than focusing on the lead, Ethan Winters. Resident Evil Village, in particular, featured a significant time skip, allowing players to take on the role of Ethan’s infant daughter, Rose, as an adult. Where Leon tends to go, Ada Wong isn’t typically far behind, so perhaps we will see another DLC like Separate Ways (though Leon takes on a very Ada-like role during Requiem).
Nakanishi and Capcom have provided no additional information about the “Mini-Game” scheduled for May. Still, fans seem confident this is hinting at a new iteration of Mercenaries. The mode has been a long-standing addition to the series, usually allowing players to take control of their favorite characters from the entry to fight hordes of enemies across recognizable stages.
