The developer behind titles like Layers of Fear, Cronos: The New Dawn, and Silent Hill 2 Remake, Bloober Team is teasing some announcement that they are set to reveal in February. A countdown website with a creepy atmosphere has cropped up with Bloober Team Inc listed on it, slowly ticking away from 17 days and some change at present.
This would place the announcement date for that of Valentines day, February 14, 2026. The page itself has a picture of a rose, which fits with that motif. Underneath this is some text that reads “Some things never leave the walls. They only learn to wait.” Featured as well is a play button that turns on a disturbing audio of a man reading poetry amid static that makes it harder to hear the full excerpt, as well as horrific screaming.
What can be made out are snippets of a poem by William Blake, The Sick Rose, including the lines “Thou art sick… invisible flies in the night…” and “Howling storm has found out thy bed of crimson joy… Dark secret thy life destroy.” This helps to tie the visible themes together, as well as explain the rose that is visibly represented. What all of this means in context remains to be seen.
While we do not have anything official yet, there has been some fan speculation that these clues, and the emphasis on Roses, that this could point towards a new Rule of Roses. Originally released in 2006, the PlayStation 2 title, which was published by Atlus in the US, is a survival horror game in the vein of Resident Evil and Silent Hill. Players take the role of Jennifer, who becomes trapped in a world dominated by young girls who create a hierarchical society she must contend with. While the game got mixed reviews, it has since developed a cult following.
It is possible that this could be a remake of the title, given how well Bloober did with Silent Hill 2 Remake, but we will not know with any certainty until February 14. We do know that is that Bloober Team is currently developing a Remake of Silent Hill, with Konami expressing Happiness with how 2 Remake sold.
