For fans on Xbox who have been waiting for the Silent Hill 2 Remake, which was released last year as a PlayStation Console Exclusive in 2024, it appears the wait is almost over. This is according to a listing on the Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB), which lists an Xbox version of the title. Silent Hill 2 Remake was already listed on the site, having been listed last year for PlayStation 5 and PC as a mature-rated game (17+) for blood, gore, sexual themes, strong language, and violence. However, now, an Xbox rating has been added to the site, specifically for the Xbox Series.
This shouldn’t come as a surprise to people. It was previously announced that the title would have a year-long exclusive with the PlayStation. which ended on October 8, 2025, the first anniversary of its release. Despite this, Konami has remained quiet about if or when a Silent Hill 2 Remake would be released on Xbox Series. While most companies have been consistent with porting their titles shortly after exclusivity expires, others, like Square Enix, in the case of several Final Fantasy games, like Final Fantasy VII Remake, the company allowed several years to lapse after exclusivity ended before porting their game, so it’s not like there haven’t been exceptions to cause pause.
Silent Hill 2 Remake has been considered a success by Konami, hitting 2.5 million sales worldwide, with Konami slowly reinvesting in console gaming after years of putting their focus into mobile gaming and live-service titles. Konami recently saw success with Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, a graphical remake of their classic PlayStation 2 title directed by Hideo Kojima, who left the company in 2015. The company also recently released a brand new title in the Silent Hill franchise, entitled Silent Hill f, which also saw positive reviews and sales. Silent Hill 2 Remake performed so well for Konami that the publisher is partnering with developer Bloober Team again for a remake of the original Silent Hill game from 1997 as well.
