Sony has announced that they will be holding a State of Play Tomorrow, September 24. This event will be held a day prior to the start of the Tokyo Game Show, at which PlayStation will be participating, having a presence there every year. The State of Play will be held at 2 pm PT / 5 pm ET / 11 pm CEST and will be available to watch on the official PlayStation YouTube and Twitch channels. A State of Play was held on this date last year as well.
According to a PlayStation Blog post, this state of play will feature “35 minutes of reveals and news from developers around the world.” It then makes clear that it will feature both “anticipated third-party and indie titles” as well as “updates from some of our teams at PlayStation Studios.” In particular, Saros, the sequel to Reternal, from developer Housemarque, will receive an extended look to showcase the title before its release next year, and is captured on PS5.
Outside of Saros, much of the State of Play has not received any indication as to what we can expect to see. Sony is gearing up for the release of Ghost of Yotei in October, with a few games announced for the company past that, but this is the biggest game Sony has slated currently, so this could give us a much clearer schedule for 2026. In addition, rumors have circulated that Insomniac was planning to finally give a trailer for their upcoming Wolverine game during the next State of Play, but there is no indicator for that as of yet. There is a possibility that this showcase could have a focus on Japanese titles, with events in the past around this time of year having a similar focus, and the Tokyo Game Show is in such proximity.
