Despite previously being intended for release in 2023, publisher Sony Interactive Entertainment and developer ShiftUP have officially delayed the upcoming action game Stellar Blade into 2024. This honestly should not come as a shocker to many, given that the game had remained relatively quiet.
The official confirmation came during a PlayStation Blog highlighting several games and accessories that Sony has upcoming across the next year. Other games included are Helldivers II, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, as well as Rise of The Ronan to name a few.
The blog post states about the game:
While Stellar Blade is Korean developer Shift Up’s first console title, the adventure is looking promising indeed. Stellar Blade is an action-adventure game making its way to PlayStation 5 next year. This hack n’ slash title puts players in control of the stylish heroine Eve, as she takes on the Naytibas, a force ravaging Earth while surviving humans escape to an outer space colony.
Stellar Blade combines sharp action with stunning visuals and a mature narrative to create something all new. Players will have to master a balanced offense and defense to survive against hordes of out-of-this-world enemies.
It is stated in the post that the game is simply scheduled for 2024 at this time assumably to have an actual date announced during one of Sony’s State of Play events, having featured heavily in them over the past 2 years.
Originally planned to have a winder release Stellar Blade will be a Sony console exclusive when it releases for the PlayStation 5 sometime this year. During 2023 it was suggested that Sony had partnered with the Korean developer ShiftUp to have the developer as an exclusive second party collaborator following the release of Stellar Blade.
