As part of the Geoff Keighley-hosted Summer Game Fest, RGG Studio showcased a new story trailer for their upcoming game Project Century, which they unveiled under the new name Stranger Than Heaven.
Previously, when initially announced, the game was set in 1915. This trailer is set in 1943, though how the game will juxtapose the time periods remains to be seen. Based on this trailer, it is suggested that we will follow two different protagonists, and in 1943, we follow a detective who can do several things, such as investigate objects and interrogate people, with him taking part in a clandestine meeting at the end of the trailer.
Of course, regardless of the time period you are in fighting will play a big part in the experience, with a tighter, more cinematic combat than that of RGG Studios’ popular Like A Dragon game,s much of the combat showcases draging and pulling enemies to the ground to unleash vicious punches to their face, with enemies being able to do much the same.
While the city that the game is set in has yet to be given a name, we do know RGG is very skilled at the integration of reused assets, and there appear to be several here that might give some clues. One such scene showcases a bridge filled with people that looks very similar to one featured in Osaka in previous Like A Dragon games, similar to the overlook right outside the jazz bar we start in, which appears similar to one seen in Yokohama. These could simply be repurposed for the new IP, but this could suggest the story will have several locations. There is always a possibility that Stranger Than Heaven will be part of the Like A Dragon universe in some way.
Currently, no release date or platforms have been announced for Stranger Than Heaven as of yet but we will keep everyone updated as more information becomes known.
