Coming near the end of the Nintendo Switch 2 Direct, Fromsoftware announced a new game entitled The Duskbloods that will be coming exclusively to the Nintendo Switch 2. While not directly related, as many fans pointed out, the game has a lot of similar motifs to that of Bloodborne, a game that remains locked on the PlayStation 4 despite the desire to see a PC port, Remaster, or sequel at an all-time high.
The Duskbloods put players in the roles of characters called “Bloodsworn” that are “a group that has gone beyond humanity thanks to special blood, players will enter a violent melee to become the First Blood.” These characters are prebuilt, unlike souls games, but in a similar vein to the upcoming Elden Ring Neightreign. These similarities don’t stop there, as the game is also a PvPvE with “online multiplayer at its core,” with 8 players battling to win against both the environment and the other players themselves. This goes a step further than the Elden Ring spin-off, which is only PvP.
While the trailer did cover a lot of ground, going over combat, environments, and characters, in true Fromsoftware fashion, there is a lot we still have to learn about the title. Thankfully, Nintendo will be posting an interview with Director Hidetaka Miyazaki on their website on April 4th. Most likely a big emphasis here will be just how we can expect the PvPvE to actually work, especially when compared to the upcoming Nightreign.
This wasn’t the only news that Fromsoftware had to offer for the Nintendo Switch 2 either, as they additionally announced Elden Ring Tarnished Edition, which will be released for the platform sometime in 2025. Originally released in 2022, the game went on to win numerous Game of the Year awards but skipped the Switch at the time for obvious hardware limitations. This should prove a great opportunity to get the game, had you not already.
The Duskbloods was not given an official release date yet, instead simply saying that players can expect it in 2026.
