Following yesterday’s announcement by developer Bethesda, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered has been officially revealed to the public. This follows weeks of speculation and rumors, including leaks of screenshots earlier this month.
The Livestream reveal, which was released on Bethesda’s official YouTube and Twitch accounts, showcased the massive graphical overhaul from the original game, which is now pushing 18 years old. The title has decided to skip Bethesda’s creation engine, being recreated in Unreal Engine 5 by French support studio Virtuos.
Almost every aspect of the original game has seen some sort of overhaul. This includes the leveling system, which now draws from both the original Oblivion as well as its successor, Skyrim. Animations such as running animations, as well as the stamina system, have also been overhauled. One edition that might be the source of some discussion is that of the voice action, which has additionally seen some alteration to give all races some unique interaction with the player, though some of the more quirky dialogue, such as the greetings, have remained.
Thankfully, players diving into Oblivion Remastered do not have to worry about missing out on content, as not only the base game but also the DLC content, such as Shimmering Isle and Realm of the Nine, have been included in this remaster as part of the core experience. A deluxe edition will also be available and will include additional DLC: The Armor of The Order, Weapons of The Order, and Order and Cataclysm Horse Armor.
Like some of the rumors suggested, you do not have to wait long… Or at all… The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion will be available today. It will be available on Xbox Series, PlayStation 5, PC, and through the Xbox Game Pass.
