Ghost of Yotei, the sequel to the open-world samurai game Ghost of Tsushima from Sucker Punch Production, has received a release date of October 2, 2025, confirming their plans to release the game this year. Alongside this information, a PlayStation Blog post has detailed additional story elements to let players know what they can expect come release, as well as a new trailer.
This trailer, entitled The Onryo List, fills in some of the blanks that the previous trailer left, focusing on the motivations of the main character, Atsu. 16 years prior to the events of the game, a gang known as the Yotei Six murdered her family and left her for dead, pinned by a blade to a burning Ginkgo Tree. Years later, after training to take her revenge, she put her plan into action by returning to Ezo (Known in the present day as Hokkaido, though not part of Japan until 1869) to hunt them down, only knowing them by the masks they wore.
Additionally, the blog post states that players can officially start pre-ordering Ghost of Yotei on May 2nd at 10AM local timezone, similar to how PlayStation did the pre-orders of Death Stranding 2 earlier this year. Similar to that, there will be three versions of the game that players can pre-order. The Standard edition will be $69.99 and includes the base game. A digital deluxe edition will be available at $79.99 and will include several cosmetic add-ons such as an armor set and an armor dye. A collector’s edition will also be available that includes a standee of Atsu’s mask, similar to the CE of Ghost of Tsushima, as well as some other physical items, with a price to be announced at a later date. It will include a digital deluxe copy of the game, meaning no physical disk is included.
Ghost of Yotei will be available on launch exclusively for the PlayStation 5.
