Frostpunk 2, the snowcapped city management sim set in a post-apocalyptic tundra, has announced the date it will finally be arriving on consoles. The 11bit Studio-developed game will be arriving on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series on September 18, 2025, 2 days prior to the one-year anniversary of the title’s release on PC. In addition, it was announced that Frostpunk 2 will be available as a day 1 title via Xbox Game Pass.
In a press release from the studio, it was stated that the console port will draw from lessons the team learned from the port of the previous title in the series, leading to a “refined the circular, easily navigable interface.” They go on to say “the port allows players to guide the politics and people of New London with the palms of their hands, on controller and thumbsticks alike.”
The press release continues:
Several improvements help tailor the control scheme for gamepads and provide quick access to vital actions. Players can use bumper buttons to cycle between districts of the same type, or a dynamic radial menu that appears over resource piles and presents actions specific to them. Additionally, following the console release, the PC version of Frostpunk 2 will receive an update enabling players to use this new UI scheme whenever a gamepad is connected.
In addition to the release of the game, 11bit has teamed up with Skybound Games to release two premium physical versions of the game that will be released on September 18 alongside the digital version of the game. These versions will release on both PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series and are called the Icebreaker Edition and Whiteout Edition.
The icebreaker Edition will feature a physical version of the game, a pop-up diorama of New London, a digital version of the Novella Warm Flesh, and a behind-the-scenes digital artbook. The Whiteout DLC will feature everything that the Icebreaker edition does, as well as a shadowbox with LED lights, the deluxe edition upgrade which will give access to all three upcoming DLC expansions, and physical collectables such as a metal and enamel keychain, two postcards, a Frostpunk-themed sticker set, and one of two possible embroidered faction sets that can either represent the Technocrats or the Icebloods.
These versions of the game will be priced at $49.99 and $99.99, respectively. Frostpunk 2 will be available on consoles on September 18th, 2025.
