Sony held their State of Play Japan broadcast today, focusing on titles from Japan and Asia, hosted by Yuki Kaji. Here is a list of games showcased and announced during the event:
Dragon Quest VII Reimagined Showcased
The upcoming Dragon Quest VII Reimagined, developed by Square Enix, received a new trailer showcasing the narrative and gameplay, showcasing the updated version of the 2000. The game is slated for release on February 5, 2026, and will be available for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC.
Inkonbini: One Store. Many Stories And Coffee Talk: Tokyo Receives Release Windows Announced
Two cozy indie titles were given release dates, having both been announced some time ago. Inkonbini sees players take on the role of a clerk in a convenience store somewhere in the countryside of Japan. It will see players tasked with the day-to-day upkeep, stocking, ordering, and dealing with customers. It will be available in April 2026. It is set to release on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC
Coffee Talk: Tokyo is the third title in the Coffee Talk series of games, in which you play a barista, tasked with mixing drinks for customers. The twist is that the game is set in a fantasy world based on modern times, where many of your customers are taken on mythological entities, in this case, Yokai. It will launch on March 5, 2026. It will release on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
Brokenlore: Unfollow And Brokenlore: Acend Showcased
Psychological Horror anthology series BrokenLore announced two major updates for the PlayStation 5 during today’s event. The first of which is that BrokenLore: Unfollow, which had previously been released on PC, will arrive on PlayStation 5 on January 16. The second of these announcements was the reveal of the next game in the series, BrokenLore: Acent, which will see players climbing a reimagining of Tokyo Tower when it releases in the Summer of 2026.
Fatal Frame II: Crimson Butterfly Remake Recieves Release Date
The upcoming remake of Fatal Frame II: Crimson Butterfly Remake, being developed by Team Ninja, who worked on the 2003 original with Tecmo, received a new trailer. The trailer showcased the photograph-based gameplay, as well as exploration and narrative, for those unfamiliar with the original. The best part was that the game received a release date, which was absent the last time the game was showcased, now set for March 12, 2026. Preorders are available today for both the base game and the Deluxe Edition. It will be available for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC.
Dynasty Warriors: Origins DLC Announced
Koei Tecmo made a second announcement following that, giving players their first look at Dynasty Warriors: Origins DLC, which was announced back in August. Entitled Visions of Four Heroes, it will be available on January 22, 2026, with the Nintendo Switch 2 version releasing later. It is available for preorder now, with players that do preorder receiving a Yellow Turban outfit for the protagonist.
Grand Turismo 7 SPEC III Update
Previously announced, it was announced that Gran Turismo 7 will receive its next major update on December 4, 2025. Entitled the SPEC III update, it will feature the addition of 8 new cars, 2 new tracks, as well as several QoL updates. In addition, a Premium DLC will be available alongside this that will add 24-hour races to the game, as well as 50 new races and a substantial amount of in-game currency.
Several Games Coming To PlayStation 5
A series of smaller games was announced in quick succession that are coming to the PlayStation 5. These games include the indie platformer MotionRec, which will see players traverse levels while using a record and play mechanic to help them fully traverse the dangerous stages, and is coming in Spring 2026. Another of these games was the Wuxia RPG Wandering Sword, which has a similar art style to that of Octopather Traveler, with a grid-style turn-based combat. It will feature for the first time in the series a full Japanese cast and will be released on May 28, 2026.
Finally, the most recent game in the AI: The Somnium Files series, which was released on Nintendo Switch 2 earlier this year, has been announced for PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4. No Sleep For Kaname Date – From AI: The Somnium Files features is set to release on February 26, 2026. It will also be available on the Xbox Series. Finally, the recent revival of the Xtreme Tokyo Racer series of racing games, which was released on PC earlier this year, is set to arrive on PlayStation 5 on February 26, 2026.
Several DLC Announcements
A list of DLC for several games that have been released on the PlayStation was announced, starting with the recently released Once Upon A Katamari, which is receiving two DLC packs, with both containing remixed music and new accessories for the prince and his cousins. Both are paid DLC, with one set for November and the other just for winter. Pac-Man Repac 2 also showcased another look at the Sonic the Hedgehog collaboration that was previously announced. It will feature a Sonic the Hedgehog-themed level, complete with rail grinding and a boss battle against Dr. Eggman himself. The best part is that this paid DLC is available starting today.
Digimon Story: Time Stranger, which was also just released last month, was also given a look at the first of the upcoming DLC for the game available for preorder in the season pass. It will feature additional Digimon to unlock, as well as Episode Pack 1: Alternate Dimensions. It will feature brand new story content and launch sometime this winter. Super Robot Wars Y also had new DLC collaberation content announced, including franchises Galactic Whirlwind Bryger, Big O, Futo PI: Portrait of Kamen Rider Skull. The DLC pack adds new missions and characters from the franchises and is set to launch on November 21st.
Gogmazios Comes To Monster Hunter Wilds
Monster Hunter Wilds is set to receive Free Title Update 4, which is set to add the Giant Halberd Dragon Gogmazios as a major hunt to the game for you and your friends. Endgame content will be expanded as well, with new seasonal content being added. This update will launch on December 16, 2025.
Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds Showcases DLC Characters And SpongeBob Content
Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds, which was released earlier this year, showcased several characters, including Nights from Nights into Dreams and AiAi from Super Monkey Ball. In addition, the upcoming SpongeBob collaboration, releasing on November 20, 2025, was shown to some degree, such as SpongeBob as a playable character and a Krabby Patty Kart to race in.
Never Grave: The Witch and the Curse Showcases a New Gameplay Trailer and Release Date
Pocketpair Publishing debuted a new trailer for the upcoming 2D platforming roguelike Never Grave: The Witch and The Curse. Featuring fast-paced combat, the big twist comes in the true protagonist, which isn’t the chibi girl you see take the lead, but instead the hat she wears. Through this mechanic, the hat can possess enemies to allow players to take control of them, akin to Super Mario Odyssey. In addition, a release date of March 5, 2026, was announced for the game.
BlazBlue: Entropy Effect X Coming To PlayStation 5
Another roguelike, Blazeblue: Entrophy Effect X, was also announced to be coming to the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and Nintendo Switch on February 12, 2026. This is an expanded version of the title that was released for PC several years ago and features a new story and upgrade content, but the same fast-paced combat with a roster of familiar faces.
Demon and Baby Get New Gameplay Trailer
Demon and Baby, an isometric RPG from Arc System Works, received another trailer showcasing the frantic bullet hell gameplay, as well as platforming across its stages. It is announced for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 with an early 2026 release date.
Kyouran Makaism Showcased New Trailer,
The developers behind the Disgaea series, Nippon Ichi Software, showcased a trailer for their previously announced Kyouran Makaism. The game draws heavily from their Disgaea series, in that it features demons and massive amounts of damage to inflict, while blending itself with Dynasty Warriors games. It is currently slated to release in January in Japan with no Western release date as of yet. It is releasing in Japan on PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Switch 2.
Fate Trigger Gets Early Access Date
Upcoming anime-style action game Fate Trigger received a new trailer that confirmed the game will be coming to PlayStation 5. The title is a hero extraction shooter that was built using the Unreal Engine 5. The trailer also showcased some new characters that will be coming to the game. It will also receive an early access release in the first quarter of 2026 on PC.
Octopath Traveler 0 Showcased, Demo Arriving Today
Square Enix’s next entry in its popular Octopath Traveler series, Octopath Traveler 0, received a new trailer showcasing the characters, world, and the new building mechanic that will allow players to rebuild the protagonist’s hometown. The title has already been announced to be released on December 4, 2025; however, it was announced that a Demo will be arriving today.
Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls Showcased, Closed Beta In December
The producer and art director on Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls discussed the upcoming fighting game that is set to release on PlayStation and PC sometime next year. The showcase a new stage based on the X-Men academy, as well as discussed the choice to feature Robbie Reyes as Ghost Rider rather than the original character of Johnny Blaze. In addition, it was stated that a second closed beta for the title will be held December 5-7.
Elden Ring: Nightreign DLC, Entitled The Forsaken Hollows, Showcased With Release Date In December
The final announcement of the State of Play was our first look at the upcoming DLC to Elden Ring: Nightreign. Fans have been asking for this for as Elden Ring had been relatively quiet on this, stating a few days ago that it was due out prior to the end of the fiscal year. Thankfully, players do not need to wait till March to square up against new bosses and areas. The Forsaken Hollow is due out December 4, 2025.
