Monster Hunter Wilds is set to receive a “large-scale” expansion, which will arrive later this year from developer Capcom. This news comes from series producer Ryozo Tsujimoto, who, during a video addressing fans for the title’s first anniversary, teased a similarly sized expansion to that of Monster Hunter World‘s Iceborne. Beyond this, very little information concerning the DLC was given, other than the fact that this will be the final DLC of this Monster Hunter iteration.
He stated:
We are currently at work on a large-scale expansion similar to Monster Hunter World: Iceborne and Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak for Monster Hunter: Wilds. We plan to share more information with you this summer.
In addition to this, we learned a little more information about the update set to release on February 18. This included details on the Arch-Tempered Arkveld, 10-star Arc-Tempered Monsters, along with a special collaboration with Monster Hunter Stories 3, which itself is set to release on March 13.
There was also information given about an anniversary event where all previous awards and quests will be made “re-available.” Players who log in during this event will be given a free item pack, with each seasonal event returning in a weekly rotation. It was stated that “almost all” previously released event quests will be made permanent starting on February 18.
Tsujimoto went on to state:
We have been implementing improvements to game stability and performance since Title Update 4, and this update will introduce even further improvements.
With the team pointing to a summer announcement, most likely, we will see the expansion as part of Summer Game Fest, though whether it will be announced on the main stage or in a specific Capcom event. Monster Hunter Wilds has had a bit of a rough patch, especially on PC, where performance has been an issue.
Title Update 4 was released late last year ment to address numerous issues across all platforms, including PC. While this did fix some, a development roadmap released in December outlined several more PC fixes planned for the title.
