One of the most promising sci-fi titles in recent years, The Expanse: Osiris Reborn announced a slew of exciting updates, including a closed beta.
The Expanse: Osiris Reborn will be in the hands of players sooner than expected. A new closed beta beginning on April 22 and available all the way to launch until its full release in Spring 2027 was announced. Open to founders who purchase the Miller’s Pack and Collector’s Edition editions, this version allows players to get a feel for the game’s combat, movement in the zero-g environment, and dealing with life and death on a remote space station.
Developer Owlcat Games, of Warhammer 40k: Rogue Trader fame, set The Expanse: Osiris Reborn in the successful The Expanse universe. Based on the sprawling series of science fiction novels from James S. A. Corey, it has blown up in popularity lately. This new entry in the thrilling universe comes off the heels of an Amazon Prime series, whose 6 award-winning seasons were a hit with fans. Osiris Reborn will be set in the same universe, although no characters from the show have been confirmed.

One of the main reasons this upcoming release has been garnering fans is due to the similarities with another sci-fi juggernaut: Mass Effect. Playing from a third-person perspective, having a heavy emphasis on narrative, and tense action sequences all evoke this heavily praised IP. Working as a Pinkwater Security mercenary, players will build a team to fight against the black-ops company Protogen and its experiments. A focus on companions and possible romance will surely spark interest for fans of BioWare’s franchise.
Other notable announcements include the confirmation that the game will launch day one with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. The Expanse: Osiris Reborn will release a closed beta for Miller’s Pack and Collector’s Edition supporters on April 22nd. The full game will launch in Spring 2027 for PC via Steam, Epic Games Store, and GOG and on Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5. It will be available Day 1 launch on Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. You can wishlist it now.
