Big Walk is a cooperative game about freedom, and as such, it gives you and your friends access to a big island with very few restrictions. The thing is, this can also be confusing since you are searching the map for puzzles that yield keys, making it easy to get lost. Thankfully, there is a map in the game, though not the kind you might expect, but it is very helpful. This guide should at least point you in the right direction and get you started.

After completing the tutorial area, which consists of a valley and a key that needs to be collected on the beach, you will unlock a path along a red walkway. Following this path leads to a few mountainous walkways, and in terms of a Trail Marker, you should see a big upside-down cone on top of the closest mountain. Follow the pathway up to that point, and you will see a similar structure to the first major hurdle of the game. On the Roof of the cone are five key slots that require two people to use.

Head back down from the cone going right after exiting the cone, and you will find yourself in an area with a red circle on the ground. The first thing you might choose to do is unlock the door in front of you that loops back to the main room. What interests us more, though, is turning right from the red circle; you will see a blue arch with a staircase inside. The map room is in there.

Now, to unlock the door up that staircase, you need the key, and to get the key, you need five of the egg-shaped keys. The thing is, at this point you have full access to the island, so it’s hard to specify any specific puzzle you should head towards. Wander around, keep an eye on trail markers so you don’t lose your way, but take on any challenge you want until you have collected enough keys, then return to this point and slot them in.

This will yield you the key to this structure, which indeed looks like a house key, though with no pins. You need to then follow posts starting from the one right outside the structure to carve the pins. If you haven’t figured this out yet, once you use one, an arrow will appear on top to guide you to the next on your journey. Carve each pin and head back to the locked door at the top of the stairs, and you are in!

What do you get by unlocking the map room? Well, besides unlocking the Big View trophy/achievement, the player gets a few things. For starters, you get a big map of the island in the center of the room you can look over. This map has egg key locations illustrated on it, and even puts a flag in ones you have already claimed. There is a walkway above it for a bird’s-eye view, or you and your friends can climb all over it to find what you are missing and what identifiable markers can guide you there.

What else do you get? On a table by the door, there is a map that players can pick up for navigation, as well as a compass to tell direction. There will also be three laser pointers that players can use for a multitude of purposes, including a creative way to find each other if they get lost. This is an important step on your journey and will come in very handy near the late stages as you keep stumbling onto puzzles you have already solved and need fresh direction. Even in the early game, this is a great place to regroup and plan your next move.
