Final Fantasy VII Revelation is just around the corner, and Square Enix is pulling no punches in trying to show its best looks.
The hype train for Final Fantasy VII Revelation continues in the lead-up to its Spring 2027 launch. Just released at today’s Gamescom Opening Night Live event, a new trailer showcased several new superbosses and open-world traversal mechanics. Working as the conclusion of 30 years of Final Fantasy VII storytelling, this final entry in the remake trilogy promises to go out with a bang. From the massive boss fights to being able to explore the entire world, no expense will be spared at World’s End.
In the trailer, enormous guardians called Weapons emerge to defend a world in crisis. Making no distinction between friend and foe, the Weapons wreak catastrophic destruction upon the planet and its people. Upon desert sands, in mid-air dogfights, and at the bottom of the sea, Cloud and his fellow heroes must stand against the colossal Weapons even as they toil to save the world from Sephiroth.
The Gamescom trailer featured the powerful new Summon Typhon and open-world exploration via parachute, grappling hook, and Chocobo mounts. Cloud and Tifa also sport their fresh Warrior and Black Mage FITS. New to Final Fantasy VII Revelation, the FITS system introduces unique outfits that bestow new abilities and greater heights of power, with specialized roles evoking classic FINAL FANTASY jobs.

In the game, the entire planet is freely explorable via the Highwind airship. Players can drop in via parachute anywhere, seamlessly transitioning from air to land. With Meteor descending and the Weapons unleashing terror, the planet’s conflicts are many, and the party will need to divide and conquer. Choose where to go, who to help, and in what order as the planet itself fights for survival. Make one last stand alongside a beloved cast of legendary heroes, making decisions along the journey that can impact aspects of their stories.
Releasing for all modern platforms, game director Naoki Hamaguchi expressed his desire to have a physical release in some way, which will help alleviate any concerns for supporters of physical media. In other news, players who have save data for Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade and Rebirth will receive special summon materia for following the journey all the way to Revelation.
FINAL FANTASY VII REVELATION will be available for PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam, Epic Games Store, and Xbox on PC in Spring 2027.
