Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag Resynced Release Date Reportedly Leaked

While rumors have been following the project for several years, we finally got the briefest of confirmations that Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced, a remake of the fourth mainline title in the Assassin’s Creed series, is indeed in development. This came in the form of a piece of concept art, so even to this point, the project has more speculation attached to it than known variables, with today appearing that one more can be added to the pile. According to Insider Gaming, the long-awaited remake will release on July 9, though obviously, there is no Ubisoft confirmation of this.

Even before the official announcement, there were developers stoking the flames of this speculation. In a deleted tweet from March (Right before its official announcement), Jean Guesdon, Head of Content, stated:

Speculation around Assassin’s Creed is not new, but it’s worth repeating: “Nothing is true. Everything is permitted.” Well, except in this case, some whispers have a little more wind in their sails. Keep your spyglass on the horizon. 🦜

We have also gotten confirmation on a few leaks of the project. This includes the name, which was added resynced, getting suggested to be the title back in December of last year. Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag Resynced was spotted at the time via a European PEGI rating board listing. Follow that, lead protagonist voice actor Matt Ryan also hinted that players would have a chance to beat the game again. This was an action that reportedly had Ubisoft “threatening to sue.”

Another rumor that has yet to be confirmed is that Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag Resynced will cut all present-day sections and focus entirely on the pirate’s life. This would bring the game more in line with recent entries, Assassin’s Creed Mirage and Assassin’s Creed Shadows. Ironically, the series had been rumored to be discussing this as early as Black Flag, the first game to follow after the Desmond Miles trilogy. Black Flag had been heavily criticized for its present-day segments, largly because outside of them, the game is overwhelmingly loved among the community of fans.

While the Assassin’s Creed used to be an annualized franchise, there were roughly four years between the release of Valhalla and Shadows, with Mirage being released a year before that. With no suggestions that a new game in the series is planned at this time, Black Flag Resynced is in a good position to fill the void of the series in the meantime. If the rumors of narrative shifts are true as well, there could always be additional background narrative added to give the game more modern placement.

Most likely, Animus Hub, formerly known as Assassin’s Creed Infinity, will be integrated into Black Flag. While in development for years, it was finally implemented as part of Assassin’s Creed Shadows and serves as a hub and central launch between games, allowing for easy access if you buy them digitally.
