It should probably be prefaced, before I even begin, that Dragon Quest VII is not one of my favorite games in the Dragon Quest series. Having beaten it on PlayStation and the 3DS, the ins and outs of this particular game in the series were familiar to me going into the experience. That isn’t to say I don’t like Dragon Quest VII. All of this is to structurally set up just how shocked I was by how this particular remake won me over, which I was not expecting. If we are being fair, it’s the core structure of the title…

There is always that point in a horror movie where you can’t help screaming at the screen because the character has decided to follow the most outrageously stupid path possible. I always love horror video games when you find everything blocked, and then you, the player, have to make the worst possible decision despite being painfully aware of the fact. In Resident Evil: Biohazard, this point of no return comes when you pull up to the creepy as hell house in the middle of nowhere in Louisiana. I feel like every part of that is equally terrifying. At least in…

Similar to Resident Evil 7: Biohazard, Resident Evil Village made its way to the Nintendo Switch. In fact, it arrived only a year after it was released on every other platform. Unfortunately, they were both released as cloud streaming games, meaning that you could buy and stream them over Wi-Fi if that were a functional option for you, but your experience was highly dependent on your connection. As somebody who champions the PlayStation Portal regularly basis, I have no issues with cloud gaming, and it has gotten much better, but it’s frustrating when it is required and not an optional…

Highguard has had a rough time since its announcement at The Game Awards at the end of last year. The free-to-play raid shooter, which had the privilege of serving as the final announcement of the night, fell victim to everything that came with that. It was quick to see criticism from the gaming community at large, with its announcement trailer being heavily downvoted, despite much of the game still remaining unseen. The game’s woes continued with most of the developers at Wildlight being laid off only two weeks after the game’s release in January, calling into question the year-one roadmap…
