Bandai Namco has announced Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3, the next mainline entry in their popular action RPG fighting franchise, for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series. The announcement for the title came alongside Dragon Ball Games Battle Hour 2026, an event held in Los Angeles this past Sunday, a tournament focusing on the Dragon Ball titles and announcements.
The announcement came as a bit of a shock at the event, where Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 was in rotation. Xenoverse 2 was released back in 2016, making it a decade since a new title has dropped in the game, though the current entry has been well supported with new updates and additional characters since then, with the Future Saga Chapter 4 DLC set to release this year.
Technically, Dragon Ball Xenoverse had already been revealed by Bandai Namco earlier this year, having previously been called Age 1000. This title is revealed in the trailer to describe the new world that the game is set in. There is also fan speculation that a character that will be added to Xenoverse 2 in the next DLC will be a tie-in character, though this stems from when the project was known as Dragon Ball Project: Age 1000.
An official description for the game reads:
As revealed in the announcement trailer for DRAGON BALL XENOVERSE 3, players will get to explore and uncover exciting new stories in West City, the vibrant new world set in AGE 1000. Guided into the ranks of the Great Saiyan Squad, you’ll fight alongside allies as events there begin to take shape.
The game combines an epic story-driven RPG experience that will take DRAGON BALL fans on an unforgettable, action-packed journey into this new universe and its cast of characters.
Bandai Namco has stated that there will be more to share for the game “in the months to come,” which is good because the initial trailer does not give much away. The last game to release in the Dragon Ball series arrived in 2024 and was entitled Dragon Ball: Sparkling! Zero. It served as a revival of the very popular Budokai Tenkaichi series, which had not seen a new game since 2010.
