Out now for Meta Quest, on-rails shooter Sugar Madness takes players to a weird, sugary universe with friends.
Sugar Madness is a brand-new on-rails VR shooter that takes place in strange and sweet amusement park-type levels. Developed by JollyCo, their previous work on Jolly Match 3 MR aligns with their colorful vision, albeit a bit darker this time. Candy Kingdom has been corrupted by genius madman Dr. Sour. It’s up to brave warriors in solo or co-op mode to fight against the oncoming waves of sinister Candymorph hordes. Featuring funky enemy designs, an arcade-style scoring system, and quirky minigames, it is certainly a one-of-a-kind VR shooter of its kind.
Sugar Madness takes players on the role of a prototype combat robot. Deploying to eliminate hostile forces, the final goal is to uncover the origin of the corruption in on-rails levels. The game focuses on intense combat, precision shooting, and constant movement. It aims to deliver intense encounters across various candy-themed environments. Moreover, players will need to choose their weapons strategically.

The varied arsenal includes weapons like the Sugar Blaster, Bubble Trap, and Sweet Smasher. Each allows you to switch between close and long-range combat to handle each encounter more effectively. Culminating in bombastic boss fights, teaming up with friends is a helpful strategy to defeat them successfully. Lastly, its minigames include fun pastimes inspired by Whac-A-Mole and Synth Riders. These also provide a momentary respite from the chaos of the main adventure.
First making an appearance at the Game Developers Conference (GDC) in San Francisco in 2025, it has been a long road for Sugar Madness. Across showcases and closed playtests, player input played a key role in improving combat pacing, movement systems, weapon balance, and overall gameplay flow, leading to the polished release available today.
Sugar Madness is out now for Meta Quest.
