Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League Brought Offline A Second Time

Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League has been brought offline a second time since it launched into 3-day early access, this time for indefinite maintenance. This follows a period in which it was taken offline due to a bug that would auto-complete the story progression for users, locking them out of what many have called the saving grace of the title, the story.

Today developer Rocksteady announced that the game will be undergoing maintenance at 03:30 PT (06:30 ET/11:30 GMT) and that any players who are online at that time would be logged out of the title “until maintenance has been completed.” This maintenance was concluded only 9 minutes later, unlike the previous issue which had the game down for hours, but there has been no official word as to what this was meant to fix.

The issue here, if we are being honest, is that the only players with access to the game currently paid a $30 premium, at least in the US, to have access to the game. While the game is ‘officially’ (if we want to call it that) set to launch on February 2nd to all players, a deluxe edition of the game was made available with a 3-day early access window. While much of the downtime was relegated to before the game was available to players in the US, it is a bad look to keep pulling the game down during a period you’re charging additional to access.

Of course, the 3-day access wasn’t the only thing players got through the deluxe edition. These players also received an exclusive skin set, and weapons pack, as well as a token to unlock the first season battle pass as soon as it goes live. Of course, the battle pass should have been a major indicator of the live service nature of the title, but the fact that the game requires online access despite being a single-player to co-op at best experience should be a troubling notion.

As of now, many players have lamented they have only been able to spend an hour or two in the Suicide Squad, in what should be a 72-hour window, with the clock quickly ticking away. There has also been no indication on the part of WB Games or Rocksteady that they intend to reimburse or reward players affected by this downtime in some way.
