In case you have missed previous announcements for the annual THQ NORDIC Digital Showcase, the publisher has posted one final FINAL reminder on its website that the event will be held on August 2nd, 2024. The event will begin at 12:00 PM PDT / 3:00 PM EDT / 8:00 PM BST / 9:00 PM CEST and can be viewed via Twitch, YouTube, or Steam.
In this press release, THQ reminds us that several games that have been in development will be featured in the event, including Disney’s Epic Mickey: Rebrushed, the Gothic 1 Remake, and Titan Quest 2. The publisher’s successful hunting game Way of The Hunter will also be featured there, shortly after THQ NORDIC announced a partnership with American gun manufacturer Remington to expand the selection of firearms featured in the game in an update released last month.
While not mentioned by name, upcoming racetrack builder and racer Wreckreation will also be featured there based on a pun in the post itself, hopefully, this time with a full release date. There is also a possibility that the highly anticipated TMNT: The Last Ronin, in development from the Destroy All Humans remake team Black Forest Studio will also receive a look at gameplay after receiving a teaser previously. A teaser was posted for an additional game to be featured only giving some of the letters “_ _ e E _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ e _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _”.
As with previous years, the THQ NORDIC Digital Showcase will feature a preshow by HandyGames which usually showcases smaller titles before the main show. If people would like to catch this portion of the event, they can tune in at 11:45 AM PDT / 08:45 PM CEST.
The event comes after a tumultuous year for THQ NORDIC. One of the major titles featured in previous digital showcases, Alone In The Dark, was intended to be the revival of the dormant forerunner to survival horror but failed to meet critical or commercial success. This resulted in the studio behind the game Pieces Interactive being closed by the parent company, the now notorious Embracer Group. Black Forest Games has also seen its staff cut by around 50% in January of this year.
