A Nintendo Switch 2 version of Bethesda’s open-world space adventure Starfield has been spotted online thanks to a leak by the Taiwan ratings board. As spotted by Universonintendo, the listing shows that this version of the title has been approved for release this week, though there is no mention in the leak as to a suggested release date.
Starfield was released on PlayStation 5 on April 7, 2026, around three years after it was first released on Xbox Series and PC. This also followed extensive rumors over the last year that the title was poised to release on the console, the latest in a long line of Xbox first-party titles to do so. Set to be the first new IP from the developers behind The Elder Scrolls and the modern Fallout game, the title received a lackluster response around release.
Game Pass makes it hard to say exactly how well it performed, posting six million players at launch through the service, while only selling over one million copies. While that was the biggest concurrent player count the service had seen at the time, the service’s success has always had very different metrics than traditional sales.
Since the launch of the game, Bethesda has addressed several fan-requested features through a variety of updates. Players who have stuck with the experience have stated that game has become more enjoyable, likening it to the three-year journey of Cyberpunk 2077 from buggy to critically praised. When speaking on the latest update, Todd Howard stated it was not a “2.0” update. He stated:
I think it’s the kind of thing where if you love Starfield, we think you’re going to love this. It’s updates and things that change the game, not in an isolated way, but sort of meta.
There have been several rumors of Starfield coming to the Nintendo Switch 2, though nothing has been confirmed publicly. There have been several technical issues that have affected PlayStation 5 players of the game since release, so there is a likelihood we will not hear more until these are addressed, wanting to address these issues in any additional versions as well.
Microsoft, under the previous Xbox Head Phil Spencer, has moved heavily into the multiplatform release of first party titles. Nintendo Switch has seen the release of Grounded and Hi-Fi Rush, with the Nintendo Switch 2 set to receive Indiana Jones And The Great Circle next month.
