Marvel Tokon Blocked Across 132 Countries Due To PSN Restrictions

The newest fighting game from Arc System Works and PlayStation, Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls, has been blocked from sale in 132 countries. This appears to be another instance of Sony’s PSN Requirements barring a title from distribution on Steam, something we had previously seen with a Sony-published title, HellDivers 2.

The list of countries banned, which was listed on SteamDB, includes Serbia, Ghana, Afghanistan, Haiti, and Egypt, to name a few. While neither Sony nor Arc has issued an official statement, fans were quick to point out that all of these countries have something glaringly obvious in common. None of these countries has access to PlayStation Network.

Sony eventually reversed course when it came to Helldivers 2, which at its height had around 177 countries blocking it from distribution. It appears that Sony at least intends to attempt to implement the requirement again, though it already appears to be off to a bad start. This is a fighting game after all, which could live or die based on how much of its potential playerbase is severed from playing it. It should be noted, for instance, that Pakistan is on this list, which was the country where Tekken 8 EVO Champion Arslan Ash lived before relocating to Japan in 2026.

Sony Interactive Entertainment has made headlines a few times this year for poorly recieved choices. This began when the studio released an internal memo, it was stated that the company will be moving away from releasing single-player titles on the platform, including titles like Soras and Marvel’s Wolverine. Last week, the publisher announced a MASSIVE shift in the industry, stating they planned to no longer release physical media by January 2028.

Now we can compound this with Marvel Tokon, which now seems yet again likely to take on PSN requirements. On the flip side, they had briefly won the internet when Insomniac confirmed Marvel’s Wolverine would be released on Disc, following Rockstar’s announcement that physical copies of Grand Theft Auto VI would contain a code in the box.

Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls is set to release on August 6th, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and PC.
