Nintendo has announced that a Nintendo Direct broadcast will be held this week, focusing on Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave. This special stream will be broadcast on August 4th (tomorrow as of writing this), at 7 AM Pacific / 10 AM Eastern / 3 PM UK time. Players can tune in then to see 20 minutes of new details for the next installment of Nintendo’s popular tactical RPG franchise, coming exclusively to the Nintendo Switch 2.
Back in June, we got a new, more detailed look at the title during Nintendo’s big direct that followed shortly after Summer Games Fest. It was during this event that we also learned the title would be releasing on September 17, 2026. This means with a little over a month left until players are enjoying the gam, Nintendo is starting the hype buildup.
Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave will be the next major installment in the series since the release of 2023’s Engage for the Nintendo Switch. It will be set in the same universe as 2019’s Fire Emblem: Three Houses, which was a major success for the franchise overall. Despite that, though, the game is touting some changes to the usual formula that have already been announced.
While the title will keep the franchise’s signature turn-based RPG mechanics, unlike typical mainline games, the narrative will follow four different characters. Each of these characters will participate in the story’s Heroic Games, with the setting being centralized around the arena in which they are set. In an official blurb, Nintendo states, “Discover an intertwining story of strength and steel in Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave, only on Nintendo Switch 2.”
So far, the trailers have been met with a positive reception by fans, especially with elements that overlap with Three Houses.
