Nintendo has announced that a new Indie World Showcase will be held this week on Wednesday, 28, 2026 (Tomorrow, as of writing this). The event will begin at 7 am PT / 10 am ET / 2 pm GMT, with the broadcast planned to last around 15 minutes overall. Nintendo’s Japanese account has promoted the event by stating it will be around 25 minutes, suggesting a potentially different or extended broadcast will be held for that region.
The company last held one of its Indie World Showcases back in March of this year, with that event lasting about 18 minutes in total. Several of the games showcased during the event include the upcoming horror farming sim Grave Seasons, which was delayed into next year, the coming-of-age narrative journey Mixtape, the convenience store slice-of-life InKonbini, and the musical roguelike Ratatan.
Last week marked the 15th anniversary of the first-ever Nintendo Direct, which was held on October 21, 2011. That event was broadcast in Japanese only at the time, focusing on 3DS and Wii titles, hosted by the Late, legendary Satoru Iwata. A shorter event was held in English afterward, hosted by then-President of Nintendo of America Reggie Fils-Aime. While the event was relatively small by comparison to Directs held today, titles like Mario Kart 7 and The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword were shown there.
The company has regularly hosted around 3 to 4 of these events a year, with the last being held last month and lasting around 45 minutes, with 57 games being showcased in total. With an Indie World Showcase, it can be hard to predict what you might see. The event has historically done a very good job of platforming developers of all sizes, giving them more visibility than they would typically expect to see. That is also part of the fun of them, with the game you didn’t expect often being the most special.
