CD Projekt has announced a special anniversary stream for the popular The Witcher III: Wild Hunt expansion Blood and Wine, which was originally released on May 31, 2016. This announcement comes amid rumors that a new Expansion for the 2015 Game of the Year-winning title is in development from the team currently working on a remake of the original Witcher game, Fool’s Theory.
The stream, which will be held on May 28 at 5 pm CEST / 8 am PT / 1 pm ET / 4 pm UK, will see the developer “return once more to the land of knights, vineyards, and vampires!” CD Projekt stated in their announcement tweet. The studio has, at present, made no statement implying that this stream will contain any announcements, but of course, speculation among fans is high that this new expansion will get some mention or showing during the stream.
Currently, all we know comes from reports, one of which suggests that it will take players to a ‘dune-style’ location. Based on all the reports, it has been suggested that CD Projekt plans a release sometime this year, which makes sense why fans would think that announcement is imminent. This would add content to the decade-old RPG, coming in the build-up to The Witcher IV, which was previously announced and showcased, though still with no release date.
CD Projekt currently has several projects in development, with a Cyberpunk 2077 sequel currently in the pre-production stages. The studio has suggested that we should not expect a launch for The Witcher IV until 2027 at the earliest, suggesting we will not get Cyberpunk 2 until at least 2030. Fans of Cyberpunk at least have something to tide them over, as it was announced there will be a panel for the hugely anticipated Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, season 2, at the Anime Expo in Los Angeles. The panel will be held on July 3 at 7:30 PT.
