Fortnite has officially confirmed the title’s long-awaited Kingdom Hearts collaboration is coming, teasing four different skins based on characters from the series. This news was revealed via a brief teaser for the crossover on Fortnite‘s official social media channels, showcasing series protagonist Sora grabbing a keyblade out of the sand and giving a pose for the camera. This news was previously suggested as port of promotional material for the games latest season, which features several video game characters, but now we know for sure Sora and friends will be added to the game.
A few text based teasers released by Fortnite developer Epic Games have also given us a look into other characters that will be joining Sora in the Collaberation. These include Riku, Kairi and Roxas, leaning more towards the Square Enix side of the game. This sadly means we will not be seeing Mickey, Donald, or Goofy in their signature Kingdom Hearts looks in Fortnite, though assumably they would be harder to see cross over anyway given they are explicetly owned by Disney.
Kingdom Hearts is the latest video game series to join Fortnight as part of the current season, entitled Override. Other characters include the likes of Mega Man and Sonic the Hedgehog, with characters like Persona 5‘s Joker also being teased for inclusion as well. If Square Enix really wanted my love though, they would be pushing for a Final Fantasy VII inclusion in time for the release of Revelation next year.
This current season, while having seen some great character skins, is being met with a lukeware reception overall by players. The collectable sprites that offer abilities in game have seen a split over plays wanting them revamped, with others wanting them removed entirely. I will say, the tails sprite with the megamann buster is completely broken. The overall players numbers have dipped somewhat compared to the summer high. Fortnite is laying the groundwork for future events as well such as their Halloween Fortnitemares is set to arrive next month, with a Five Nights at Freddy‘s tie in expected to be part of it.
