Rockstar is reportedly aiming to have Grand Theft Auto VI out on PC sometime in Q1 2027. This comes via GamesBeat, which reported the news based on four sources who asked to remain anonymous with knowledge of the studios plans. At this time, both Rockstar and Take-Two have yet to release any official comments concerning the PC release. If this news is true, that would place the release of the title on PC at only a few months after the release of the game on consoles on November 19, 2026. That would also be a quicker turnaround for the company than typical, with previous games requiring around a year before seeing a release on PC, with Grand Theft Auto V taking nearly 2 years.
Fans believe that this release schedule might correspond with Grand Theft Auto VI‘s multiplayer mode, which they have taken to calling GTA Online 2. There has been no official word concerning a new version of GTA Online; right now, Rockstar is still promoting the current GTA Online, which is planned to be supported past the release of the new entry. Last month, Twitch Boss Dan Clancy stated that whatever this next or improved online would be, it was planned for a 2027 release.
Take-Two boss Strauss Zelnick has responded to the prospect of the game on PC with vague comments, typically pointing people to address their questions to Rockstar. In an interview with Bloomberg, he spoke on this, stating that Rockstar:
…always starts on console because I think with regard to a release like that you’re judged by serving the core. Like really serving the core consumer. If your core consumer isn’t there, if they’re not served first and best, you kind of don’t hit your other consumers.
This has been typical of all the company’s releases, rather than exclusive to their big franchises like Grand Theft Auto or Red Dead Redemption. The games do have a fairly large and active PC community, though, fueled in part by GTA Online and role-playing servers, not to mention mod support, though it is fair to say that the latter community and the studio have butted heads more than once.
