Kicking off Opening Night Live at Gamescom 2026, HoYoverse showcased a first look at its newest game, Nodus Fall. The game stands as a pretty big departure from the previous anime-oriented and playful games developed by HoYoverse, such as Genshin Impact and Zenless Zone Zero, with the trailer giving off vibes that might have been better associated with something from FromSoftware before the reveal of the developer behind it.
Nodus Fall is a dark fantasy title being developed on Unreal Engine 5, a departure from the studio’s use of Unity Engine. The game will blend elements from soulslike titles like Elden Ring with game elements of Monster Hunter and others mixed in for good measure. The title will but emphesis on weapon weight, stamina management, and tactics, with there being large-scale cooperative boss battles.
Players will take the role of Magical Weavers who will fight an ancient horde of Calamitus enemies. While thematically very different than previous works, there will continue to be a focus on Multiplayer. It is unclear, though, how much emphasis will fall on collecting characters or cosmetics, as in their other titles, remains to be seen. The game features a dark, forbidding world and appears to have large-scale areas to explore and fight through. There is still plenty left to be seen as of this point, but the trailer does give us at least some idea of what we can expect, and definitely who it will appeal to.
Nodus Fall does not have a release date as of yet, though some have suggested it might be aiming for a 2027 release. Obviously, take that with a grain of salt. HoYoverse has yet to reveal what platforms the game will be released on.
