PlayStation has announced that the release of the PlayStation FlexStrike wireless fight stick has recieved a delay to an as-yet-unannounced date due to issues in production. This news was announced via an official PlayStation Blog post, stating that “unexpected production delays” are responsible for this change in date. Originally, the FlexStrike was slated to release alongside the Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls on August 6th, the anticipated new tag fighting game title from developer Arc System Works.
Isabella Tomatis, Vice President, Global Marketing, Sony Interactive Entertainment, states in this post:
We’re working to ensure we deliver the best possible experience to our players with FlexStrike, so we’re taking extra time to put the finishing touches on the product. We apologize for this delay and look forward to bringing the FlexStrike experience to the community when it launches
Players who already pre-ordered the FlexStrike will still be able to check their order status through the PlayStation website and will continue to receive updates about their order from the company — however, those who submitted an order through a third-party retailer will need to contact their source with any questions or concerns.
Preorders for the product initially opened up on June 27th, a date that was announced alongside several other Sony first-party peripherals, such as their 27″ monitor with DualSense charger. This marks the first fight stick created by PlayStation, though the company has had a long relationship with the fighting game community, having previously had a stake in events like EVO. The FlexStrike will be compatible with PlayStation 5 and PC, and features adjustable controls, ultra-low latency, toolless swappable resistor gates, mechanical switch buttons, up to 40 hours of battery life, and comes in at a mid-range cost of $199.99.

While the FlexStrike fight stick has recieved some positivity from fans who have gone hands-on with it at events, this news comes shortly after Sony made the industry-shaking decision to set an end date for the release of physical media on the PlayStation Platform, January 2028, a decision analysts suspect the company is unlikely to go back on, even as they face massive backlash. After a brief silence on their official Twitter feed following that news, their first post in 5 days was a video for the FlexStrike and… You can imagine how well that went over…
