*Light spoilers for Onimusha: Way of the Sword are contained within.
Upon reaching the more open area of Kyoto in Onimusha: Way of the Sword, Musashi gains a few abilities, one of which is the deflect. This functions as a third block, on top of the standard block and perfect block, requiring perfect block timing plus pushing forward on the left stick toward the enemy. To get the Pinch Hitter trophy/achievement, the player needs to do this 50 times to projectiles aimed at them, hitting the projectile back toward the enemy, in comparison to the perfect block, which just knocks them down.
There are a few options you can explore that can get you on your way. For starters, the Kubi Akari can be found around the city. These floating heads can usually be found in groups, floating out of range, then spitting several ball projectiles at you. You can tell how many it will spit based on the bulges that form right before it does, and you can land up to three if you get the timing down. If you don’t mind the wandering, this is a functional way to go.
For my preferred option, while it doesn’t always spawn, you can head to the location on the map below:
Head here, and you can find an elevated arch that has formed from the same demonic stuff you see all over town. You should be able to tell because it will have glowing yellow weak spots on both legs that can be hit to bring the structure down. Atop this structure will be two of the Hitotsume Gasa type demons, each equipped with bows. More importantly, they are barricaded in, and yes, that actually does matter in the long run.
Onimusha: Way of the Sword only tracks that the deflection registered, not that it hit an enemy. In most cases, you get two to four hits before the enemy dies, and even if they don’rt and, deflection can stun an enemy, forcing a wait before you can deflect again. Here, while it is possible to hit the enemies, it is very hard. This gives players the freedom to deflect arrows more consistently, and once in a rhythm, they fire arrows at a steady pace.
You should, with this structure, be able to land all 50 deflects without killing the enemies or needing to wander around from group to group. And with that, you will unlock the Pinch Hitter trophy/achievement. It should be noted that, at least on the PlayStation 5, it can take a short while to pop up.
