Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater premiered in September from Konami to both critical and commercial success, another strong outing in Konami’s return to game development after years of focusing on mobile and live-service titles. Because of this success, it is really no surprise that Konami is already eyeing up the possibility of remaking more titles with a more modern aesthetic.
In preparation for the Tokyo Game Show, several players have seen a “post-viewing survey” which, while not making the rounds yet, many assume is set to be sent out following Konami’s “Metal Gear Production Hotline at TGS2025,” livestream, which is set to air on September 25. While the survey does have a few generic questions, such as asking about interest in the multiplayer mode, Fox Hunt for Delta, or what they are hoping to see in future livestream broadcasts from the company, something that feels more relevant now that the release of Silent Hill f is upon us. One question that has stood out to people on the questionnaire, however, asked participants to “Please select all of the following Metal Gear Series titles that you would like to see remade.”
While we are probably a ways out on another project in the series being started, or at least entering full production, it is not surprising that additional remakes are on the agenda. Snake Eater hit one million units sold on its first day of sales, August 28. Within a year of the success of another Konami remake, Silent Hill 2 Remake, developed by Bloober Team, both teams announced they would be collaborating on another remake, this time for the original Silent Hill, showcasing that Konami is acting quickly to build off of perceived successes on their part.
As shared by MGSMGN on Twitter, the choices listed on the survey include:
- Metal Gear
- Metal Gear 2 Solid Snake
- Metal Gear Solid
- Metal Gear Solid 2 Sons of Liberty
- Metal Gear Solid 4 Guns of the Patriot
- Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker
- Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes
- Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain
Things to note here are that spinoffs like the Platinum Games title Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance are not listed as options. The original Metal Gear games are also listed, both of which predate the 3D of the Metal Gear Solid series. Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain is also listed, arguably the title least in need of a glow-up; however, Konami famously split with Hideo Kojima during the development, leaving a third and final act unfinished and absent from the finished game. The inclusion of which in a remake might make it worth it; otherwise, Phantom Pain is most likely set to appear in Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol 2.
