Developer Dragami Games has announced that a sequel to Lollipop Chainsaw will be announced at the Tokyo Game Show, held later this month. Mr. Nasu of Dragami Games will be leading the development as director, with key figures from the original title, such as director Suda51, Tomo Ikeda, or writer James Gunn (yes, that was a thing that really happened), not set to return.
According to the company’s official post via social media, players in attendance can “Be among the first to play the new game at its world premiere at the SEGA/ATLUS booth,” and that “A life-size chainsaw display and Juliet will appear in her new outfit!?” This is referring to Cosplayer PeachyMilky who will be present dressed as Juliet. Outside of one still image showcasing protagonist Juliet Starling in her new outfit, this is all the information we really have. We do know that a stage show held on Friday and Saturday at the event will offer more information.
It was first announced back in 2025, shortly after the release of Lollipop Chainsaw Repop, a remaster of the original title developed by Dragami. Around this time, we also learned that an anime adaptation of the franchise was in the works as well, though whether it is a reimagining of the first game or something new entirely remains to be seen. Given the success of franchises like Devil May Cry, Castlevania, and Cyberpunk with recent adaptations, this shouldn’t come as much of a surprise; they are looking for the same here.
Lollipop Chainsaw has acquired cult status among gamers since its release in 2012, similar to many other Suda51-attached IPs. A quirky hack-and-slash, the game mixes cute sparkles and grungy zombies into a fast-paced action game where Juliet (voiced by Tara Strong) has to save her school by cutting down the undead with her chainsaw. Lollipop Chainsaw Repop was released in 2024 to mixed reviews, with many noting the lack of polish and loss of song rights as detractors from the experience.
