Earlier this year, we got our first look at Rayman Legends Retold, the 3D remake of the classic 2013 Ubisoft platformer, which is set to release later this year. Honestly, the trailer for that game was reason enough to be excited, as it showcased the title with brand-new visuals and new levels that will play out in full 3D. Announced at the same time, buying Retold will also give players access to the previous game in the series through Rayman Origins: Enhanced Edition, which releases on the same day.
The remaster of the 2011 game doesn’t look much different from how it previously was, not getting the complete overhaul of its sequels, but a new trailer released by Ubisoft has given players a fresh look at gameplay. This will allow players to experience both titles developed by Ubisoft Montpellier, each holding fairly positive reviews from critics.
As stated, Rayman Origins: Enhanced Edition will remain fairly faithful to what players remember, featuring a 2D art style with up to 4-player jump-in couch co-op across 60 handcrafted levels with several characters to choose from and multiple costumes to wear. Additions to the experience will include enhanced 4k visuals targeting 60 FPS, several quality of life improvements, and new collectables to find.
These games, in particular, Rayman Legends Retold, are positioned to renew interest in the Rayman series, which hasn’t seen a new mainline experience since Rayman Legends in 2013. Currently, Rayman is celebrating his 30th anniversary, which also saw the release of the Rayman Anniversary Collection featuring 5 classic games in the franchise. Ubisoft has confirmed that a brand new, completely 3D Rayman game is also in development, though nothing has been showcased of this game as of yet.
Rayman Legends Retold and Rayman Origins: Enhanced Edition will both release on October 1st, for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC.
