After several weeks of rumors and one leak featuring a ridiculous price tag, Ubisoft officially announced Rayman Legends Retold during the Sony State of Play on June 2. The updated version of the 2013 title has been completely overhauled with 3D visuals for the title’s platforming sections, with all new segments that will play out in full 3D, as showcased in the trailer.
Rayman Legends was praised at the time of release and still has a strong fanbase, being a direct sequel to Rayman Origins, released in 2011. Despite this, the title has not received a direct sequel since, but this should hopefully be something to satisfy players. Previous leaks for the game have suggested that Rayman will see a crossover with a few franchises, including Astro Bot and Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. One rumor that has, however, turned out to be untrue is the claim that the Rayman Legends Retold would get online multiplayer, as it has been confirmed that multiplayer will remain local.
Developer Ubisoft Montpellier, which was previously run by Rayman creator Michel Ancel, is developing the title. They had previously developed both Origins and Legends, respectively. This would seem to be an effort on Ubisoft’s part to help revive their one-time mascot, as the character celebrates his 30th anniversary, with several other projects also rumored to be in development.
Rayman Legends Retold launches on October 1, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and Nintendo Switch 2, with the price point expected to be $39.99, rather than the $2000 that was previously listed.
