Upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive Orbitals will have a Global Friend’s pass available at launch, developer Shapefarm has announced. What this means is that only one person will need to own the game upon its release, while the second player taking part in the split-screen adventure needs only to access the game via the Global Friend’s Pass app. This will allow that second player to be able to experience the full game from start to finish at no cost to them.
In addition to this, the Global Friends Pass will also include a free local co-op demo that includes the opening chapter of the game. This will be available the same day as the game’s launch, September 3, 2026. Orbitals is a split-screen adventure game that plays in a similar way to the games of developer Hazelight (It Takes Two, Split Fiction). Animated in a retro 90’s anime aesthetic, one player takes the role of Maki while the other plays as Omura as they brave obstacles, dodge perils, and solve puzzles in space, all in the hopes of saving their home.
A standard version of the game will be released digitally only, costing $39.99, which will include only the base game. A physical and digital deluxe edition of the game will also be released for $49.99 and will include the base game, digital art book, digital soundtrack, two character costumes, and two ship skins. A digital deluxe upgrade path will also be available to players who bought the standard edition of the game, costing $14.99.
