During the Nintendo Indie World Showcase, chucklefish announced that the highly anticipated and long-awaited magical life sim Witchbrook is set to open its doors on January 28, 2027. Best known for developing the Wargroove series, as well as publishing Stardew Valley, this is the indie developer’s fourth in-house title with co-development support from Robotality. This news was announced alongside a new trailer for the title, reflecting this new release date.
It was also revealed that Witchbrook, having been announced for both the Nintendo Switch and PC, will also be available to players on the PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S. Every one of these versions will be available on day one, rather than a port released later, which will allow players on any platform to start practicing their spells come January.
Witchbrook is a pixel sprite life sim that invites players to enroll players to enrol in Witchbrook College, situated in the bustling seaside town of Mossport. You can attend classes and complete assignments in a range of subjects like Alchemy, Astrology, Tarot, and Rituals as you work to expand your magical knowledge. As you do so, you will also take exams and learn new spells that you can mix into your repertoire.
School life would be boring if all you did was study, though, so you can expect far more than just attending classes. There are colorful characters around Mossport that you can befriend, as well as form romantic relationships with. The player will also be able to start a witch business to help the locals. You can also join clubs, take part in seasonal events, as well as just explore the, based on trailers anyway, georgous pixel art world.
