Developer FromSoftware has announced that The Duskbloods, their Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive PvPvE title, has been delayed until 2027. While the title was planned for release sometime before the end of 2026, with us now in October and with no release date in sight, this prospect was looking more and more unlikely. The developer had held a network test for the title earlier this year, which in part played a role in the studio’s decision to ultimately delay the release.
In a statement published by the studio, it was stated that The Duskbloods is in the final stages of development; it was decided to delay the game following a recent network test. The delay was made to focus on the combat, strategic depth of the game, as well as player expression. Unfortunately, FromSoftware offered no timeframe as to when next year we might expect a release, with just a 2027 window to go by.
Fans had anticipated this possibility, as The Duskbloods was one of the big titles to skip the Nintendo Direct back in September. Before this, in August, the studio had held a network test, an event marred by “game server issues” barring many participants from logging into the game on the first day of the test. Responses were mixed for players who did manage to get into the test, with players also reporting performance issues. Producer Yasuhiro Kitao was noted as saying that the network test drew more interest than even the studio’s previous multiplayer title, Elden Ring: Nightreign.
In the official Statement, FromSoftware said:
While development of “The Duskbloods” is at the final adjustment stage, we have made the decision to move the launch window to 2027. We apologize to players who have been kindly awaiting the release of this title and thank you for your patience and support.
During the network test, we saw active interest in the core concepts of the game, including combat, strategic depth, and player expression. To further enhance these aspects, we have decided to move the launch, allowing time for final adjustments to game rules and balancing.
FromSoftware is best known for its challenging single-player RPGs, with titles from them such as Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice and Elden Ring going on to receive universal acclaim as well as many Game of the Year awards. Their last single-player title was Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon, which was released in 2023. There is a lot of anticipation for The Duskbloods, the studio’s only upcoming title currently, with many hoping it recaptures the spark the developer is known for.
