Developer Obsidian has announced today that Avowed will be the next title from Xbox Game Studios to cross the console line and release on PlayStation 5. Microsoft has announced that it will be holding an Xbox Developer Direct in January 2026, a similar timeframe to which they held a developer direct last year. The ever-reaching influence of AI over gaming seems set to expand further, if a new patent from Sony is an indication. The patent documents filed are for what the company refers to as “AI Ghost,” an in-game function that will demonstrate how to further progress should you find yourself stuck for whatever reason. Alternatively, it will allow AI to fully take over your game to simply progress you past that point. Developer CD Projekt has a secret expansion in the works for their game-of-the-year-winning title, The Witcher III: Wild Hunt, various reports have suggested. Sony has announced the PlayStation Plus lineup for January 2026, which will kick off the new year for the platform.
