Developer Square Enix has announced that the upcoming port of Final Fantasy XIV to the Nintendo Switch 2 will release on August 4, 2026. The game’s director, Naoki Yoshida, announced this news on stage at the Final Fantasy XIV Fan Festival held in Berlin to confirm this news, as well as outline a series of updates that are coming to the game in the near future. While many had suspected this would be the case, it has been announced that Tomb Raider: Catalyst has been delayed until 2028. This confirmation comes directly from the boss of Amazon’s video game department, Jeffrey Gattis, who told The Game Business that the title was now expected to release sometime in 2028, with Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis still due to release on February 12, 2027. Publisher 505 Games has announced that Wuchang: Fallen Feathers, the Chinese-developed soulslike set during the Ming Dynasty, has crossed the 5 million player milestone in its first year. Released on July 24, 2024, the title reached a concurrent player count of 131,000 players on Steam upon its launch, as well as maintaining an 80% approval rating from players on the platform. South Korean publisher NC (formerly NCSOFT) has announced that Aion 2 will have a Founders Pack that is available for purchase starting today across Steam and PURPLE. Granblue Fantasy Relink: Endless Ragnarok can be, at times, a bag of mixed signals. On the one hand, it isn’t a live-service game. The Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive Splatoon Raiders is close to release and is sitting at mostly positive reviews. The Witcher III: Songs of The Past Expansion Will Be Showcased At Opening Night Live During Gamescom
CD Projekt Red has confirmed that the upcoming expansion to The Witcher III, entitled Songs of the Past, will be presented during Gamescom 2026, which will be held in Cologne, Germany, between August 26 and August 30. Bethesda Game Studios has stated that their 2023 space exploration RPG, Starfield, “remains an important part of our future,” along with teasing Starborn, and upcoming DLC for the title coming in 2027. Todd Howard, Development Chief at Bethesda, issued a note following the massive layoff at Xbox, including studios like Bethesda seeing large-scale job loss. Sony Interactive Entertainment and Arc System Works have announced that the tag-fighting game Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls will hold an open beta.
