Summer Games Fest kicked off by looking at a remake that a lot of Players have been waiting for. Resident Evil: Veronica is the next in an effort by Capcom to modernize their classic Resident Evil titles for both new and old players. The original was released on Dreamcast in 2000, with the new game dropping the word “code” from Resident Evil: Code Veronica, and is considered by many as the true successor to Resident Evil 2, with Capcom leadership wanting numbered games on PlayStation and other console titles to get subtitles. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qSjq0JSbz14 While we do get somewhat of a…
Rounding out the Summer Games Fest, and following shortly after the release of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth on Nintendo Switch 2 and Xbox Series, Square Enix has announced the third act of the trilogy, Final Fantasy VII Revelation. With the first two games in the Final Fantasy VII Remake trilogy following the completion of the first disk of the original game, this last entry will cover the narrative of both disk 2 and 3, up until the conclusion of the story. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PH3ox5krci8 The trailer for the game showcases several iconic elements from the original game, opening with the High Wind,…

On the Nintendo Switch 2, the game will cost $79.99 and include the base game, the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion, new weapons and armor, and the ability to customize your faithful steed, Torrent, as well as two new starting classes. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EGAaGwQIDoU…
According to a new leak, Star Wars Zero Company, the XCOM-style turn-based strategy game from developer Bit Reactor, will launch later this year. This news comes from Dealabs Billbil-kun, who is typically accurate about these things, and who stated that the game will release on August 27, avoiding a very busy September, thanks in part to the recent State of Play, while also keeping some distance from the November release of Grand Theft Auto VI. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rcxnRaZ6slU&t=6s This leak comes only a day before Summer Games Fest, which has to some degree replaced the E3 showcases of the summer, where this…
Warhammer 40,000 is a weird franchise when it comes to gaming. Logistically, the series has a multitude of games released every year, and despite varying in style, gameplay, and concept, they typically hit. This is even more shocking, at least for me, given the franchise’s oppressive authoritarian themes that usually lend to you playing a character you would probably hate in real life, rooting for them to kill other characters with equally bad morals because they aren’t you. Maybe that’s why it works so well, you start to see the appeal, and you don’t realise it. This is all contingent…
After getting a significant look at the game earlier this year, Annapurna and Konami have finally given us a release date for the upcoming Horror game Silent Hill: Townfall, being developed by Screen Burn. This was announced in the newest story trailer for the title, which was showcased as part of the Sony State of Play on June 2, 2026. Silent Hill: Townfall is a spin-off of Konami’s popular horror series, featuring a new protagonist, Simon Ordell, who must survive the horrors unleashed in a small fishing hamlet in Scotland. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eXLfSEipn7I&t=59s Players will take control of Simon in a first-person…
Finally, after all this waiting, players can go hands-on with the upcoming Onimusha: Way of the Sword from developer Capcom, if only for a little bit. A demo for the game was released alongside its latest trailer during the State of Play event for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC, and I cut through it so you don’t have to (but you really should). The vertical slice of the game takes players to Kyoto, around Mount Otowa at the historic Kiyomizu-dera temple, where a demon claiming to be Shuten Doji has made their residence. While you are hunting that demon,…
Sony held a State of Play for June 2nd, 2026, with many great games on the horizon. Without further ado, let’s dive into all the announcements: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cvh0xXmu0bs Wolverine Gets A Deep Dive Sony started off their State of Play with a brand new look at Marvel’s Wolverine, the latest Insomniac Games title. The deep dive featured a look at the titular anti-hero in action, complete with brutal take-downs and violent finishes. We also got a look at characters like Jean Grey, who will help Wolverine through his action-packed journey. Wolverine is due out on September 15th and will be exclusive…
Capcom has had stronger performances already this year with titles like Resident Evil Requiem and Pragmata, but we knew that those were not the end as Onimusha: Way of the Sword was also slated for this year, though without a release date. After a lot of waiting, during the Sony State of Play, a release date was finally showcased for the reboot of Capcom’s classic samurai action series. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YILKsnm0ip4 This latest gameplay footage from the title explores a region known as Mount Oe, which is located outside of Kyoto. Here we see a genma who claims to be Shuten Doji,…
Closing out the Sony State of Play on June 2 was Studio Santa Monica announced God of War Laufey. The biggest thing about this newest entry in the series, however, was that series protagonist Kratos will not take the lead this time around, with his deceased wife Faye taking the lead in a sort of sequel, Midquel, or interquel hybrid. The biggest thing to note, as it stands, is that the 20-minute deep dive showcasing the title begins right where the first game of the Norse saga does, and features Kratos and his young son Atreus burning the deceased Faye. This…
