The next entry in the popular fighting franchise from EA Sports, UFC 6, has been announced by the company with a release date for later this summer. EA has officially confirmed that the release date for this entry will be on June 19, 2026, though an Ultimate Edition will also be available to pre-order that offers a full week of early access, along with other in-game bonuses. As part of this announcement, EA has revealed that Brazilian mixed martial artist Alex Pereira will serve as the cover athlete for the standard edition, with American mixed martial artist Max Holloway on the cover of the Ultimate edition.
Pereira said of this:
Representing Brazil on the cover of UFC 6 means everything to me. This is for the fans who believed in me from the very beginning. EA Sports made my fighter look as powerful as the real thing and nailed my lefthook. The fans will get the true Poatan. Chama.
The studio is touting UFC 6 as the “most realistic and authentic fighting experience” it has crafted. This is in part due to new advancements in both the gameplay and technology powering the game. EA made a point to note that UFC 6 will see the addition of ragdoll physics, stating that fighters will look, move, and fight like their real-world counterparts, crafting a sense of individuality between them.
The title will continue to carry the M rating of the previous entry, maintaining the level of violence and blood that players have come to expect. UFC 5 was the first time we saw the game receive this rating, owing to changes made to the damage system, pushing what was visibly present on screen past the previous T nature of the series. Given the nature of the sport, this is a positive.
The game will boast some new content as well, such as new single-player modes known as Hall of Legends and The Legacy. In this, players will be able to play out the stories of legendary UFC fighters, replaying iconic fights. The player will also be able to craft their own story, rising from nobody to iconic in the process.
UFC 6 will continue EA spots precence in taking modern sports into the digital space, something the company is best known for through the likes of Madden or FC (formerly FIFA). THQ previously held the rights to UFC until the company went bankrupt in 2012, leading to EA acquiring the rights amid the asset liquidations.
EA Sports UFC 6 will be available for $69.99 for the standard edition and $99.99 for the Ultimate Edition. It will be available on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series.
