Sony has announced that the samurai action title Ghost of Yōtei is receiving a complete edition that will coincide with new content being added to the game. This news was announced via a PlayStation Blog post in which Andrew Goldfarb, senior communications manager at developer Sucker Punch Productions, stated that October 1 would be the release date for a New Story Expansion, a new single-player combat survival mode, as well as new quality-of-life updates.
This new narrative expansion is called Ghost of Yōtei: Echoes of Sekigahara. In the blog post, Goldfarb stated that this will be set between the present day (1603) and flashbacks to Atsu’s time on the mainland. Sekigahara is located on the mainland island of Honshu, in the Gifu Prefecture. It is perhaps most famous, at least in this context, as the site of one of the most important battles of the Sengoku period, the Battle of Sekigahara in 1600. The narrative begins when Atsu meets Nagato, a figure from her past that arrive in Ezo. Players will explore a new valley that was previously controlled by The Snake and his gang, while flashing back to Atsu’s involvement in events like the aforementioned battle.
The new single-player survival mode will be called Ghost of Yōtei: Most Wanted, with Goldfarb stating that this mode will be a take on the roguelike formula (everybody gets one). Players will accept bounties to begin a new run, with perks being earned by taking down enemies. It was also suggested that the mode will allow players to unlock more characters than just Atsu to complete runs with.

Ghost of Yōtei: Complete Edition will be available for $69.99 and will include Echoes of Sekigahara, Most Wanted, alongside the base experience. The complete edition is available for sale now digitally, with players gaining immediate access to both the base game and the Legends Multiplayer mode, with October 1 being the date everything else will be available. If you do already own the game, don’t worry; a Complete Edition upgrade path is available for $14.99.
Other additions coming with the Complete Edition will be three new tracks for Watanabe Mode, new photo stamps, additional cosmetics available in New Game+, alongside new trophies for both Sekigahara and Most Wanted modes. A new patch due out the same day will be free for all players and separate from the Complete Edition. This will add screensaver-like views of the environments around Ezo. Other quality-of-life improvements will come along with this. This includes the ability to shave a cosmetic armor set, a set of equipment, and a new high-contrast option.
