For fans of Frontier Developments’ Zoo management simulator Planet Zoo (like myself), it looks like the sequel, or at least its announcement, isn’t far off. This comes from some clues dropped on the title’s YouTube page that, let’s say, lack a lot of subtlety or nuance. Thanks to the publication Eurogamer for spotting this, but if you head to the Main YouTube page for the game, you might notice that the main banner and profile picture have both been updated, adding Planet Zoo 2 in both.
Since both the banner and profile picture remain in place, this doesn’t look like an accident; somebody jumped the gun. More so, it appears to be as good a way as any to confirm and announce the sequel, rather than just hint at its existence. That said, we are still waiting on any form of official word, but we are entering into the season of announcement with Summer Games Fest right around the corner, giving a few showcases where Planet Zoo 2 could be officially showcased.

It shouldn’t be too much of a shock that a sequel is in the works. Frontier previously teased that a follow-up was in development for Planet Zoo‘s sixth anniversary, which occurred last year. While this is the most definitive statement that the sequel is real, this also suggests we might not have long to wait. One can hope.
If you haven’t played Planet Zoo, it is available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC. It is a pretty in-depth zoo management sim, tasking players to design a Zoo that is both profitable and takes animal health and happiness into account, with a massive amount of ways to do so. Frontier is also the team behind Planet Coaster and Jurassic World Evolution.
