In anticipation of the release of their latest 2D-HD title, new IP The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales, Square Enix has released a new demo for the game. The Prologue demo is available on the PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series, and PC, chronicling the opening hours of the game for players to experience.
The best part of The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales, the demo is that once completed, data from the demo will be transferable to the main game, keeping all progress made. This strategy has become commonplace for Square Enix over recent years, with titles like Octopath Traveler 0 and Final Fantasy XVI both featuring opening hours demos in the build-up to their new release.
Part of their HD-2D lineup, The Adventures of Elliot features the charming but gorgeous pixel sprite art style made popular at Square Enix with the release of Octopath Traveler back in 2018. The style has gone on to represent a major part of the company’s business model, being used in particular for remakes of classic IP’s like Star Ocean: The Second Story, as well as Dragon Quest III.
This title, in particular, has drawn some comparisons to The Legend of Zelda, which the developers have stated they are perfectly fine with. Players take control of Elliot, an adventurer who ends up in a time-hopping adventure as you explore the continent of Philabieldia across multiple timeframes. Players will have a choice of multiple weapons, with combat taking place in real time, rather than turn-based combat with a party system.
The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales will release on June 18, 2026, for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC.
