Ubisoft has promised they plan to release new entries in their Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry, and Ghost Recon series, all by the end of March 2029. Reporting on their fiscal results, Ubisoft stated plans to deliver on a more diverse and significantly stronger content pipeline across both the 2027-2028 and 2028-2029 fiscal years, and releases in these franchises would support that goal.
Of these, the most recent title to release has been Assassin’s Creed: Shadows, which was released last year. The last title in the Far Cry series was released in 2021, marking a significant gap between releases compared to previous titles, with Ghost Recon last releasing in 2019 with Ghost Recon: Breakpoint.
Among these upcoming titles is Assassin’s Creed: Hexe, which is expected to launch sometime in 2027. Hexe, also known as Neo, is expected to be set during the witch trials held during the Roman Empire, which lasted between 17 BC and 37 AD under Emperor Augustus and Emperor Tiberius. The plot is rumored to feature a sole female protagonist, but also the return of Assassin’s Creed II protagonist Ezio Auditore da Firenze in some capacity.
Ubisoft stated that they consider these three franchises to be their biggest, so of course, they view future releases in these series as imperative. Of course, Ubisoft also has successful live-service games that factor into profit moving forward, such as Rainbow Six Siege, The Division 2, and The Crew Motofest, all of which were mentioned in their reporting. Two Games that did not get even honorable mentions were the Splinter Cell Remake, which was announced in 2021 with little no no fanfair since, and Beyond Good and Evil 2, now almost a decade since it was re-revealed in 2017.
This financial report comes after a tough period for Ubisoft overall. Nearly 1,200 have exited the business, with the total count of employees standing at 16,590 as of March 2026. Ubisoft also took a substancial investment (€1.16 billion or approx. $1.35 billion) from Chinese Megacorporation Tencent to help turn financial issues the company was having around, leading to a massive restructuring of studios, including those that handle Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry, and Ghost Recon.
There is bright light at the end of the tunnel, though. Ubisoft recently, after a long period of being rumored, announced Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag Resynched, a ground-up remake of one of the most beloved titles in the series. Better yet, the initial reaction to the title has been fairly positive among fans. The title will release on July 9, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC.
