The Blood of Dawnwalker Will Not Feature a 60 FPS Option On Console

Developer Rebel Wolves has released footage for their upcoming RPG, The Blood of Dawnwalker, with footage of the title running on consoles. This trailer also offers some specifications for graphics modes that will be available for players on each console. Unfortunately, none of the options will include 60 FPS, not even the modes intended for PlayStation 5 Pro players.

Set in 14th-century Europe, players take the role of Coen, who is half human, half vampire, and all VENGEANCE, as he attempts to save his family. Being a hybrid affords him the ability to take on tasks both during the day and at night, with gameplay shifting to reflect the passage of time. The Blood of Dawn Walker has recieved some positive press and hype behind it, with several members of the development team having worked on titles like The Witcher III.

It appears that console players, though, will not be getting a comparable experience to PC, with quality modes available being locked to 30 FPS. This will include the more powerful PlayStation 5 Pro, which typically manages to have these options more readily available than its contemporaries. At best, the title will offer balanced options that target 40 frames. The issue here is most likely that every option targets a dynamic 4K visual, rather than allowing for a 1080p at 60 FPS option.

    Available options are listed below:

    PS5 Pro

    • Quality: Dynamic 4K, Targeting 30fps
    • Balanced: Dynamic 4K, Targeting 40fps

*PlayStation 5 Pro offers enhanced visual quality across both modes.

    Base PS5

    • Quality: Dynamic 4K, Targeting 30fps
    • Balanced: Dynamic 4K, Targeting 40fps

    Xbox Series X

    • Quality: Dynamic 4K, Targeting 30fps
    • Balanced: Dynamic 4K, Targeting 40fps

No information has been provided as of yet as to how the Xbox Series S will run the game. Obviously, now that these numbers are in the open, some fans have been left disappointed, opting instead to purchase the game on PC. Can’t say I blame them, if we are being honest. Hopefully the backlash gives the team pause to reevaluate, because it would be a tragedy not to enjoy the fast and precise combat at 60 FPS.

The Blood of Dawnwalker will release on September 3, 2026. It will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC.
