Sony held a State of Play for June 2nd, 2026, with many great games on the horizon. Without further ado, let’s dive into all the announcements:

    Wolverine Gets A Deep Dive

Sony started off their State of Play with a brand new look at Marvel’s Wolverine, the latest Insomniac Games title. The deep dive featured a look at the titular anti-hero in action, complete with brutal take-downs and violent finishes. We also got a look at characters like Jean Grey, who will help Wolverine through his action-packed journey.

Wolverine is due out on September 15th and will be exclusive to the PlayStation 5 console.

Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls gets a new look and character reveals

Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls, the latest fighting title from Arc System Works, also got another showing, revealing some new fighters that will appear in the game. This State of Play trailer focused on Magneto, Carnage, and Green Goblin, who will be part of the opening roster of the game when it launches later this year, with one team of characters still left to reveal. While not part of this state of play, it was recently announced that the FlexStrike, Sony’s first-party fight stick, will be released alongside Marvel’s Tokon: Fighting Souls, giving a great way to take your game to the next level.

Marvel’s Tokon: Fighting Souls will release on August 6th for PlayStation 5 and PC

Rayman Legends Retold announced by Ubisoft

While there were some rumors, including a listing with a $2000 price tag (which was obviously ridiculous), we finally got an official announcement of Rayman Legends Retold from Ubisoft. A full remake of the 2013 platformer, the game will feature full 3D animation but retain the 2D sidescrolling. In addition, players can enjoy new 3D platforming sections.

Rayman Legends Retold will release on October 1st and be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC.

Dave the Diver prequel, Bancho the Chef, announced

If you are like me and have sunk hours upon hours into Dave the Diver, a prequel entitled Bancho the Chef was announced. Players will take the role of Bancho, the chef that Dave aids throughout his game. You will follow his story as he aims to become the best sushi chef, and the talented chef you come to know him as, slicing up fish, keeping your kitchen clean, and brewing up tea.

Bancho the Chef is currently in development for PlayStation 5 and PC.

Kemuri: Hunt the Unseen gets a new trailer

Ikumi Nakamura, famous for her plucky demeanor when previously showcasing Ghostwire: Tokyo, returned to showcase the newest game she is working on at developer UNSEEN, entitled Kemuri: Hunt the Unseen. Inspired by Japanese mythology, this is an action urban fantasy game that allows you and two friends to team up for co-op action.

Kemuri: Hunt the Unseen is coming in 2027.

Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis gets a new trailer and release date

Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis had previously received a minor showing, but we got a much better look at the game during the State of Play. Once again, we join Lara Croft on a globe-hopping journey in this remake of the original Tomb Raider game from 1996, from Crystal Dynamics. The character has also undergone a bit of an appearance change, bringing her more in line with her original look, rather than keeping her look from the more gritty reboot published by Square Enix. In this vein, you will also get classic combat with Lara backflipping and dual-wielding against everything that stands in her way.

Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis is launching on February 12th, 2027. It will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC.

The Lost Wild gets new trailer

The Annapurna-published dinosaur survival horror game The Lost Wild finally got a new trailer, giving us at least some idea of what we can expect. The first-person title pits players against several prehistoric threats as they need to stay low and keep their heads down as they maneuver around them. You will have some recourse to defend yourself, but from the trailer, it appears you will need to survive armed mostly with your wits.

The Lost Wild is set to release in 2027 for both the PlayStation 5 and PC.

Phantom Blade Zero announces special showcase

We have seen a lot of Phantom Blade Zero so far, and we are going to see more. What was showcased during the State of Play was mostly intended to announce an upcoming trailer that will be shown later this summer. We did get to see a pretty cool cutscene, though, and a bit of gameplay to tide us all over.

Phantom Blade Zero will release on October 29th and will be available on PlayStation 5 and PC.

Dune: Awakening is coming to PlayStation 5

Dune: Awakening, the open-world survival MMO based on Frank Herbert’s book series and the movies based on it as well, was released last year for PC and has since released a multitude of patches and updates. Now, the game is officially set to make its console debut later this year. In addition to making that jump, a new single-player mode is set to launch alongside this release.

Dune: Awakening will release on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series on September 22nd.

Dynasty Warriors 3: Complete Edition Remastered gets a new release date

Originally slated for earlier this year, the remake of PlayStation 2 classic Dynasty Warriors 3: Complete Edition Remastered received a new trailer showcasing the changes and improvements coming to the enhanced title, with over 40 officers to play as. We also received the game’s new release date, with pre-orders live now.

Dynasty Warriors 3: Complete Edition Remastered is set to slash its way on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC on October 1st.

No Rest For the Wicked coming to PlayStation 5

No Rest for the Wicked, the new action RPG from Ori developer Moon Studios, is now set to come to consoles alongside the 1.0 release of the game. It had previously been released into early access back in 2024, offering players on PC access to the game’s dark fantasy universe. The 1.0 update will add endgame content to all players, and today’s State of Play trailer showcased a look at the pre-order bonus as well.

No Rest For the Wicked will exit early access in October and will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC.

Onimusha: Way of the Sword gets a release date and demo

Capcom gave us a fresh new look at the upcoming reboot of their PlayStation 2 classic, Onimusha: Way of the Sword. Not only did we get a good look at the action combat, but we also got a release date for the game. In addition to that, it was announced that the segment we were watching would be featured in a demo that is available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC right now. We also got a look at the three different versions of the game that will be available at launch, including the digital content with each, the pre-order bonuses, and a charm players will get for playing the demo.

Onimusha: Way of the Sword will be available September 25th for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC.

Silent Hill: Townfall gets a new trailer and release date

Definitely my most anticipated from this State of Play, Silent Hill: Townfall gave us a new look at the horrors you will contend with in a seaside hamlet in Scotland named St. Amelia. The first-person spin-off of Konami’s franchise will see players solve puzzles and attempt to avoid paranormal entities, armed mostly with a handheld CRTV. Best yet, we finally got a release date for when we can take a trip to St. Amelia ourselves.

Silent Hill: Townfall will unleash its horrors on September 24th, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and PC.

Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve takes flight this October

Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve will put players in the cockpit of a fighter jet as they contend with various enemies throughout the land and the sky. Take part in high-stakes dogfights, or rain fire on tanks and ships below. Unfortunately, unlike the previous title in the series, this one will not have support for the PlayStation VR 2, but the music is still great.

Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve will take flight on October 2nd, with an early access period starting on September 29th for people who buy the higher version. It will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC.

Stuntman: Hollywood puts you in the driver’s seat

A twist on the car driving genre, Stuntman: Hollywood, which was announced during this State of Play, does exactly what it promises. You play a stuntman who will work on several films, driving fast and dangerously, aiming to get the best take. There are also a few more famous rides you will get to drive, like the DeLorean from Back to the Future, but whether that means you will participate in scenes from media remains to be seen.

Stuntman: Hollywood doesn’t have a date for when it will speed onto the scene, but it will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC

ILL delights and disturbs with a new story trailer

ILL, the disturbing horror game from developer Mundfish, showcased a bit of its story in a brand new trailer. This includes the people you will meet along the way and the monsters that will bash your head in. I’m not sure if ILL is ill, but it does most certainly invoke that feeling, in the best ways, of course. Definitely a horror title to look out for.

ILL is set to release in 2027, with it being available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC.

Control Resonant takes on a twisted Manhattan later this year

The sequel to Control, entitled Control Resonant, takes a different approach to the twisted reality created by the hiss. Playing as Dylan, the brother of the now-mission previous protagonist Jesse, you take to the streets of a warped Manhattan in a more melee combat-focused action game. Remedy’s previous title, Alan Wake II, remains one of the few games to receive a perfect score here at PixelByte, so obviously, this is high on my list.

Control Resonant takes to the streets on September 24th, being available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC.

Marathon showcases Season 2 as well as announces a trial period

While the title has been reported to be struggling in terms of player base, Marathon is still moving forward following Bungie bringing their other title, Destiny 2, offline after 9 years. Season 2 of the game launched on June 2nd, the time of the broadcast, and will add a new zone called the Night Marsh, two new weapons, and a new shell called the Sentinel, along with some other stuff. A trial period will run from June 2nd to the 9th, giving players on the fence a chance to try the game.

RuneScape Dragonwilds slashes its way onto PlayStation 5

I’ll admit, I have not touched RuneScape in 20 years or so. RuneScape Dragonwilds is a crafting spin-off that has been in early access on PC since April of last year, and the franchise is currently celebrating its 25th anniversary, so the announcement that this is coming to consoles seems fitting. The title will be available for PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium members alongside its launch on the console.

RuneScape Dragonwilds will be available this autumn for PlayStation 5.

New Retro Offerings for PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium Members

We got a few brief announcements of some classic games that are set to join the PlayStation Plus lineup in the near future. Rhythm title Gitaroo Man is set to join sometime this month, letting players strum their guitar to fight baddies. Psi-Ops: The Mindgate Conspiracy will have players using psychic powers to solve a conspiracy in July 2026. Finally, if you are looking to get hyped for the new Onimusha game, Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams will be added to the classics catalogue in August of this year.

Until Dawn II takes the horror to a tropical setting

Firesprite finally announced the narrative-driven, choice-driven horror game based on an existing IP they have been working on this State of Play, and it’s Until Dawn II. The game switches up the setting, replacing an isolated ski cabin with a tropical island, but keeps the hapless young adults as fodder. A killer arrives and stalks these fake ghost hunters, and only your choices can see them survive their ordeal or die in a gruesome way, whatevs.

Until Dawn 2 will release in 2027 as a PlayStation 5 exclusive.

God of War Laufey switches out Kratos for Faye

The final game announced during the State of Play was God of War Laufey. We got a superb look at the opening of the title for over 20 minutes. You play as Faye, Kratos’s wife and Atreus’s mother, taking control of the titular character mere moments after her corpse is set ablaze at the beginning of God of War 2018. Players will take control of her as she explores the Everywhen, known as the afterlife of the gods. Despite the character switch, the combat looks just as tight as we expect, and a strong narrative is present as well.

God of War Laufey does not have a release date yet, but it has been suggested that we are not far off.

And there you have it, everything showcased during the Sony State of Play on June 2nd, 2026. Drop us a comment and tell us what has you excited, and remember to keep it locked to Pixelbyte to keep up with all the announcements this summer and beyond (it can be overwhelming, we know).
